In accordance with the canons and doctrines of the Episcopal Church, the sacrament of Baptism is available at designated public services of worship, after preparation of the parent(s), sponsor(s) and/or candidate by the rector. As Baptism is considered full initiation into the Body of Christ (the Church), it is expected that the candidate and/or parent(s) is(are) attending worship regularly at this or another parish. If coming from another parish, an acknowledgment and consent from the rector of that parish is required. Except for emergencies, Baptisms are not conducted during Lent. Private Baptisms outside of regular worship and/or Baptisms outside of the church are available only in extreme pastoral situations. For more information, contact the parish office. [back to top]
The Episcopal Church provides that anyone (regardless of age) "Baptized with water, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit" is welcome to receive Communion in the Episcopal Church. At the Church of the Ascension, anyone seeking a closer relationship with God and who is drawn to live a life in Christ, is welcome to receive communion. However, if you want to make Ascension your new spiritual home and you have not been Baptized, you are encouraged to seek Baptism in order to further your commitment to your relationship with God by becoming a part of the Body of Christ. For further information, please contact the Rector [back to top] |
